Louis Vuitton: “Virgil Was Here”

Miami Design Shop was commissioned by Louis Vuitton / LVMH North America to fabricate and deliver a large-scale installation for the brand’s Art Basel runway presentation at Miami Marine Stadium. Centered around the paper airplane motif — a recurring symbol in Virgil Abloh’s creative language — the installation translated conceptual storytelling into engineered physical form.

Our team fabricated and installed more than 140 custom metal paper airplanes, each plasma cut, precision-formed, and powder coated to meet strict luxury brand standards. The components were integrated into a 40-foot structural feature wall, mounted at calculated angles and varied depths to create movement, rhythm, and dimensional flow across the runway environment.

Execution required advanced fabrication planning, structural reinforcement coordination, and exact placement under tight production timelines. Every element was engineered for visual alignment, durability, and clean installation — ensuring the environment performed under live show conditions while maintaining museum-level finish quality.

The final installation became a defining visual moment of the show — technically disciplined, materially refined, and built to scale with precision.
