Source Spirits
Launched in the Netherlands, at No Art Festival, 2024, “Source Spirits” represents a dramatic evolution in Jaffet and Behm’s sculptural language — a monumental installation that merges inter-dimensional symbolism, kinetic structure, and advanced fabrication.
Composed of 14 polished sculptures, the installation is anchored by an 8-meter mirrored portal, surrounded by six 4-meter Spirits arranged in a hexagonal formation. Together, they create a unified environment where design, energy, and movement converge.
Working with Miami Design Shop, the project pushes fabrication into a realm where art, engineering, and symbolism merge seamlessly. Each sculpture required:
High-precision metal forming for the elongated Spirit figures and the massive 8-meter portal ring
CNC routing and laser-cut metal detailing to achieve smooth contours and structural accuracy
Internal reinforcement systems enabling overhead suspension or ground mounting
Polished, mirror-finish surfacing that enhances reflectivity and environmental interaction
Modular design and breakdown points engineered for efficient global transport
Structural anchoring systems adaptable to indoor and outdoor installations
Miami Design Shop’s involvement ensured the sculptures were not just visually stunning but also technically sound, safe, modular, and scalable for international touring.
The installation integrates advanced lighting and atmospheric systems that elevate the installation into a fully immersive experience. The reference images illustrate this interplay clearly: laser beams slicing across the sky, haze drifting through the portal, and reflections dancing across polished chrome surfaces.
Integrated technology includes:
Custom-programmed RGB laser grid systems
Scanning lasers synchronized with rhythmic pulses
Haze and filtration units to amplify depth perception
Planetary motors and kinetic suspension mechanisms
Modular power distribution for indoor/outdoor environments
Mounting points for additional features or site-specific elements
These technological layers transform the sculpture from static form into a living environment, responding to sound, light, and movement.
At the heart of “Source Spirits” is a philosophical intention: to explore the human spirit, unity, and collective consciousness.
The towering portal symbolizes a direct connection to the Source — the origin point of life, energy, and awareness. The six Spirits surrounding it stand in a posture of openness and surrender, forming a welcoming constellation. Their limbs extend outward, creating silhouettes that feel simultaneously playful and reverent.
Placed in nature (as seen in the forest sculpture imagery), the forms echo ideas of presence, awakening, and harmony. Installed in energetic public settings (as shown in the laser-lit performance environment), they amplify collective excitement and shared experience.
This adaptability reflects the deeper intention: to create a space where people feel the same pulse in their chest as the rhythm of the universe.
By standing together in formation, and literally reflecting the world around them, the Spirits communicate a truth:
we are all mirrors of one another, connected beyond what is seen.
